HISTORY IS FUN!
Our extensive range of topics and focus on developing investigative skills ignite curiosity and enthusiasm in every child. Regular trips to fascinating historical sites, such as Chepstow Castle, Swindon’s Steam Museum, Chedworth Villa and the Black Country Living Museum, bring history to life and enhance their learning experience.
EARLY YEARS & PRE-PREP
In the Early Years, history is taught as part of the broader subject of Understanding the World, using a cross-curricular approach that encourages exploration and discovery. This method continues in Pre-Prep, where history lessons are hands-on and always full of fun.
PREP
In the Prep School, history is taught by subject specialists who bring expertise and enthusiasm to their lessons. Year 3 pupils dive into the fascinating worlds of the Egyptians and Romans, while older children explore topics like Medieval history, the Tudors, Stuarts and Victorians. By Year 6, our pupils are brimming with historical knowledge and a deep appreciation for the subject.
At Berkhampstead, we make history exciting, engaging, and inspiring, ensuring it becomes a subject our pupils treasure for years to come.
