Music is integral to life at Berkhampstead. Debbie Sallis is not only the school’s Pre-Prep Head of Music and a Percussion teacher, but also a very talented musician in her own right. She visits the Day Nursery every week to the delight of our very youngest children, bringing with her a wealth of pre-school expertise and enthusiasm. Her aim is to develop the children’s musical skills and awareness through fun. Simple rhymes and singing games are used to build skills such as keeping a steady beat, finding a singing voice and moving with the music. Children making their own music - from the very youngest age - is a big part of the sessions.
Laura attends the School Kindergarten and has given the music classes rave reviews! It was great to go along to Berky Bears so that her year-old sister could join in the fun too with clapping, dancing and singing along with Mrs Sallis and her guitar.— Current school parent.
“It’s just marvellous! Go and you’ll see what I mean”.
“It’s really good fun!”
“I’ve made friends, the children love the puppets and Mrs Sallis is superb!”
“Otto loves the drums! Mrs Sallis is great!”
