Our entire school community comes together for ‘Street Parties’ on the Pre-Prep lawn to mark special occasions such as the Platinum Jubilee and the King’s Coronation. Children from Kindergarten to Year 6 dress up for the festivities, taking part in games and treasure hunts. These celebrations are a highlight for the Berkhampstead family, offering a wonderful opportunity for all to come together and share in the joy of these significant moments.
At Berkhampstead, our sense of community extends far beyond the school gates. Whether it’s the Harvest Festival, Christmas, and Easter services held in the beautiful All Saints’ Church, or the much-loved charity dressing-up days, our children are encouraged to think of others and take part wholeheartedly.
School Council representatives from across the school gather input from their peers, allowing the children to choose which charities to support each year—always one local and one global cause. Our pupils fully embrace the spirit of each theme, raising funds with enthusiasm and creativity while having fun along the way.
Through the Platinum Award for Years 5 and 6, pupils take their charitable efforts beyond the school, engaging in causes that reflect their personal interests and passions. It’s this genuine care and active involvement that sets Berkhampstead children apart.
A highlight of the festive season for our Senior Choir is carol singing at Waitrose, where they raise funds for our chosen charities. Each Christmas, a choir from Years 3 and 4 also brings joy to the residents of Bay Tree Court, the residential home where our founder, Mrs Edna Andrews, spent her final years. Additionally, our Day Nursery Pre-School makes regular visits to Oakhaven, a local care home, to sing with the residents, creating special moments for both the children and the delighted elderly community.
