Chess Success

The annual District Chess Association Awards Ceremony took place yesterday evening. The Berkhampstead chess team picked up two trophies - the Harris Shield for winning the District League and the Wheeler Cup for being the best performing school at the annual District Congress. One of our Year 6 pupils collected the trophy for winning the congress while two other pupils were awarded age group prizes. The ceremony was followed by ‘simultaneous chess’ - adult chess experts playing a number of children at the same time. Exciting stuff!
