Year 6 spent a brilliant few weeks working on a combined DT and Computing project. Using programmable software called ‘Crumble’, the children - working in pairs - were set a challenge to build a racing car that required the use of motors to move and control it. They also had to construct the actual vehicle housing using plastic tubs, lolly pop sticks and other paraphernalia. The project reached an exciting climax when the children’s cars were raced in straight lines and in a slalom. Each team then took part in a robot war! Mr Banks and Mr Taylor judged the vehicles for speed, build, quality and tactics. Head of Computing, Mr Banks was very impressed with our oldest pupils and commented, “Year 6 came up with such unique designs. I was particularly impressed with the tenacity of the children when things weren’t going quite to plan.”
