Going For Gold!

      Going For Gold!

We were thrilled to welcome Gloucestershire-based Paralympian Pistol Shooter Issy Bailey to school this morning to speak in assembly and officially open our MUGA. Issy played Hockey to a very high level, but in 2013 she was involved in a car accident which left her paralysed from the waist down. Despite this, she was determined to continue with sport and she took up shooting. She also plays wheelchair badminton and wheelchair rugby. In assembly she spoke about her journey to the Rio Paralympics last year, and inspired us with the GB Paralympian message - to recognise our own talents, take pride in them and be determined to succeed. The children were captivated by her story and asked many searching questions. She then stayed to officially open our MUGA. It was a great morning, and we all hope that Issy reaches her goal to compete in Tokyo in 2020!
