why we're special

Our staff make us special. Fascinated in children and their development, they are caring and create a wonderful family atmosphere which children settle into quickly.

Our son is so happy going to Nursery and has really developed in the caring environment you have created.

BERKHAMPSTEAD EXPERTISE

Children benefit from the excellent resources and expertise that the school offers. Our Pre-Schoolers join Berky school children for Early Years assembly, and they enjoy French and music lessons with the school’s specialist teachers. Other teachers come to visit for story-telling and to interact with the children. The school’s cookery room, specialist Early Years gym and multi-use games area are great resources for the children.

Ralph absolutely LOVES coming here, his speech has hugely improved and he has learnt a lot. It is lovely to see the girls playing with the children, as they clearly have a genuine pleasure and enthusiasm working with them.

TRIPS AND VISITS

The nearby Pittville Park is a popular destination for walks and playing, and trips further afield have included seeing the animals at Over Farm, hunting for wild creatures on The Gruffalo Trail in the Forest of Dean and splashing about at the Wetland Centre.

Our super community link with Oakhaven Residential Care Home enables young and old to come together and take pleasure in one another’s company. Key times of the year such as Harvest and Christmas give us reasons to visit but we also share stories, craft and music on a regular basis.

High quality teaching and support ensure that all children, from the earliest age are very well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Activities

Art and craft, nature walks, role-play, cookery, modelling, construction and active exploratory fun are part of the normal programme of events. Our children share and get involved in planning the day.

The Teddy Bears and Fuzzy Bears welcome specialist company, Drama Tots each week. This is a brilliant drama, music and movement class, planned to encourage young children to use their imagination, improve their communication and language skills, and to have plenty of fun!

Didi Rugby is a fabulous extra-curricular activity for our over 2s. Coach Keith teaches the children skills such as sharing and taking turns, and helps them develop their physical mobility, agility and confidence. The sessions are always great fun!

The outdoors plays a big part for all ages and we venture out whatever the weather!

Music Making

Our activities programme varies throughout the year - please ask for details. Music is SO enjoyable though, that our fabulous Berky Bear Music sessions run on Fridays during term time, all year-round.

Free to all Day Nursery children and run by Debbie Sallis, the School’s Head of Pre-Prep Music, Berky Bears is active and great fun. Take a look!

The quality of education is outstanding
