Welcome from the Headmaster

Welcome to the Berkhampstead School website. We hope that you will find it interesting and informative!

Berkhampstead School was founded over 60 years ago. Today, it is a busy Independent Co-educational Day School for children aged 3 to 11.
The school is situated at the end of a long tree-lined avenue in a pleasant part of Cheltenham. It has three distinct, but closely integrated Departments:-

Early Years - incorporating the Nursery, which is located in its own, purpose built, accommodation; where our youngest children learn through playing and through the professional guidance of the team of Nursery Assistants and Teachers who look after them - and the Reception classes, again in new built-for-purpose premises, with their own highly qualified and very friendly staff.

The Key Stage One Department, located in the main building. The children are taught by their form teachers and, as in Early Years, this is supplemented by specialist teaching of French, Music and P.E

The Preparatory Department, in a large Victorian building, with its own facilities and teachers. This department has recently been extended by the building of a modern block containing exciting new music, art and language facilities.

2007 saw The Andrews Centre- housing new Reception classrooms and a splendid gymnasium- opened by the grandaughter of the school's founder.

If you require a prospectus or any other information please email me at head.berkhampstead@btconnect.com or use the 'Find us' link on the panel.

A survey of Parents, Staff and Governors showed one aim of this school which is valued above all others. We want our children to be happy. We believe it is because they are so happy, they work harder and take on the sort of attitude and confidence that will stand them in good stead in their senior schools.

This is a busy, successful and above all, a happy school. Come and visit us if you haven't already. We think that you'll be impressed.
